Educational Visits

Highfield Farm situated as it is only minutes from the centre of Exeter, is a fantastic resource for learning, and offers schools or other interested groups a unique range of habitats to study. Our Higher Level Stewardship agreement enables to offer educational visits free of charge to schools or other groups.

We can tailor visits to your exact requirements to fit with the curriculum and key stages. Examples of educational opportunities would include
  • Study of wildlife habitats including hedgerows, permanent pasture, grazing marshes, pond dipping.

  • Sowing and harvesting of crops including vegetables and cereals.

  • Unique “Seed to Loaf Roadshow” utilizing our co2 neutral mobile wood fired bakery. Pupils can see the wheat in the field , grind it into flour and bake it all in the same visit ! Please note that this Roadshow can also come to your school premises free of charge if budgetary constraints may prevent you visiting Highfield Farm at present.

Visits are generally around 2 hours long and we require a minimum of 6 visitors.

In 2006 Highfield Farm was independently audited by the Countryside Educational Visits Accreditation Scheme (CEVAS) – this inspection assures a high standard in terms of visitor experience and educational quality.
